WithFire... 03:55
Leave it to me To mess it all up again It turns out I needed a test And wouldn't you know I couldn't let go I had to go in for the rest Will I be gold? Or will I be scolded? Leave it to me To choose the fire Warm water is just not enough To make me believe In my purity My edges are still so rough Oh! God! Will I be gold? Or will I be scolded? My habits have come A haunting me I'm eating again mindlessly And watching again Brainless Telly And avoiding the telephone My belly is bulgeing and full But I still want more Leave it to me to live optimistically I still have plenty of love left And didn't you know There's hope for us all Purified by the fire we are blessed Oh! God! May I be gold? And in your love folded..?

Yesterday is but a dream And tomorrow is only a vision But today well-lived Makes every yesterday a dream Of happiness And every tomorrow a vision Of hope Look well, therefore, to this day.

BoxOfLight 05:15
I've got a box that is full of light, of light No words I have found can describe the delight of this light... And this box this box this box of light I will share it wih you (if you want me to) But if I do can you promise me you will Look inside for yourself Please please Don't take my word Not over your own Don't take my word over yours Look for yourself! There has come a man with words of light, of light No words I could find would describe the delight of their light And these words these words these words of light I will share them with you (if you want me to) But if I do can you promise me you will Look inside for yourself Please please Don't take my word Not over your own Don't take my word over yours Look for yourself! What good are your eyes if you do not Look? What good are those ears if you do not Listen? What good is that mind if you do not Reason? What good are our lives if we do not Question! Don't take my word Not over your own Don't take my word over yours Look for yourself!

Never been Out of my depths before Never needed Courage Never tried something I have failed Maybe I have limits too Wouldn’t that be something…

Maybe you’re right. Coz maybe it ain’t so bright To try something that’s often failed before But maybe you’re wrong. Coz maybe I am strong.-er Than any who’ve tried before but maybe that’s not the point. Just maybe the point is faith Well hey hey – I’ve got faith. I’ve got faith Yes, I’ve got faith. And as you have faith… I listened when you said: Get a side-job, get a real job Be sure to win your bread. I was attentive as you told me: Be cautious, be wise Save some for plan B - But Plan B's not for me, coz - I've got faith. I've got faith yeah, I've got faith. And as you have faith... And maybe it’s hard living sometimes But I prefer it that way to half way Guess I just wasn’t cut for living half way Maybe you are the same? Now maybe you are right Yes the sun is looking bright-er Than before - We’ll try Something that’s Often failed before. We’re strong But above all We’ve got faith. We've got faith. Yeah, we've got faith and as you have faith ...So shall your powers and blessings be.

ThisOne 03:51
This one’s for you, all you friends back home I wish you were here together we could roam I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff I thought I could get by on my own when time’s got rough but I must confess my weakness now: I need you all the same I lov you all the same And This one’s for you all friends in Europe found I wish you were here so we could lark around I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff I thought I could get by on my own when time's got rough There is a fire in my heart And it is burning me up If you’ve got the water for my heart You’re welcome any time you're welcome any time This one’s for you Island friends who know The spirit of my heart better than any else and so though I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff and I thought I could get by on my own when time's got rough There is a fire in my heart and it's burning me up if you've got the water for my heart you’re welcome anytime…

Glory 04:48
I just want glory not for me but of me. Glory That I might be for God what God has been in me I won’t give up. I will keep my faith and I will shine As God made me to And you will shine too as our liberation is bound For in the eyes of God we’re one We won’t give up. We will keep our faith and we will shine As God made us to I’ll give my life; I’ll give my all For what I have remembered and you will be in me Through all as I am here in you And we find the more we give away the more we have To give away It’s a feeling at the start of a day that if we don’t give away, we’ll whither away It’s a fountain full of fire and of fuel We’ll give our lives; we’ll give our all for what we have remembered we'll lay it down we'll burn it up we'll give until it hurts and you will be in us through all as we are here in you I just want glory, not for me but of me glory

Now I know The difference Between my heart and my blood I spilt my blood on paper For you and I thought My heart was aching for you But really it was my blood That was aching Yearning For my heart Oh my heart – she has suffered She’s suffered for you For my heart Oh my heart – she has suffered She’s suffered for you…

True 03:05
Why do you Try to make me Believe in you When patently I already do…? Your efforts To be cool are cute but They’re winning you no extra Points with me… Cause I like you The truth is simple Sometimes and you are True… Why do you Try to impress me With all that you say When all that you do Is already on display? And all that you do is beautiful And all that you are is precious And all that I see when I look at you Is true… Cause I like you The truth is simple Sometimes and you are True… Why do you try to make me believe in you when patently I already do.

When early I wake in the morn And I’m lying in bed, take a moment to – pause – Before I rise Cause the man next to me in the bed Sleepy face closed and legs wrapped round mine He’s a slow riser and he like’s to cuddle. So I squeeze him until I see that unconscious smile And then I can get to my feet and greet the day… I’m married …to happiness Oh God! Refresh and gladden my spirit Purify my heart, illumine my mind I will no longer be full of anxiety No, I will be a happy and joyful being… I'm married ...to happiness Do you know what makes you happy? Would you weave yourself to it? Are you sure that that is freedom? Or are you prisoner to it? Choose in strength your happiness then lock your self to it Yes, choose in strength your happiness then lock lock lock yourself to it… I'm married ...to happiness

(Only)Adore 04:33
I could be afraid. I could let you drag me down with you I could take a bow. Leave this dusty stage with you but I won’t let you down (no). I will not let go (first) I will drag you down with me. If you don’t let go In time. If you don’t let me go In time I won’t say I don’t like you. That would be a lie But I don’t ‘like’ you the way you ‘love’ me so You must surely die-ya-die-ya-die-ya-die.. oh I won’t let you down (no). I will not let go (first) I will drag you down with me. If you don’t let go In time. If you don’t let me go In time I can only adore you. So take your bottomless, Pathetic, pitiful and self-effacing love To someone who’ll love you the way you do. I can only adore you. You’ve become familiar. I’m afraid I’m ‘fond’ I couldn’t live without you now. Don’t go listening to me now cause I won’t let you down (no). I will not let go (first) I couldn’t live without you now so Please don’t let go In time Please don’t let me go.(you know I will) I will always adore you.

JoniSong 06:42
The painter, the poet, the dancer and me We four were each part of each of the other three At that time we shared clothes and secrets and habits we Had a sense of being known and being loved profoundly But now our cupboards clothes are all our own Now in different lands we wander alone Now we orchestrate our lives anew And the only songs we knew Will change... You've always been like a Joni Song to me So let this be part of yours Let this freedoms ever be Like when we met, I said "my dog has your name", you said, "my cow has yours" And we both smiled, the rhythm started Bada bada woo And Blue only made me happy with you Driving through the sun we were two Adult lives just begun and it was something true But now your love to another has flown Now in separate cars we drive alone Now you orchestrate your life anew And the Joni Song I knew Will change And change is good! Change is divine I will not touch wood Let it come I'm ready I'm fine! Like when we saw Maria Callas And stayed up late sharin words, Silence, Sharing space And Blue kinda makes me sad now without you Driving throuh the sun thinking we two Separate lives begun and though it's something true Now! Our love to others has flown Now! In separate cars no longer alone Now! We orchestrate our lives anew And the Joni Songs we knew Have changed. The painter, the poet, the dancer, and me We four are each part of each of the Other three We share dreams and Allergies and Travel stories we Have a sense of being part of something like a Family So now we can share in what those dreams become Now from different lands new qualities won Now when I look at each of all here of you I know my love And I know my love Hasn't changed...

about

"Olam" means World in both Hebrew and Arabic and I draw a lot of inspiration creatively from our new global society in my craft, as well as from the different countries and cultures I've lived in and seen. Musically, I've travelled through early folk, medieval and grunge-punk to dub, electronika and pacifica. Eventually I learned to trust in all that you really can do with "4 chords and the truth."
Ultimately, this album is a selection of tracks from the 40 or so songs that I had managed to write by the time I was about 23, and had by then been writing and gigging in different contexts since I was 16, including a couple of key years singing and performing for non-English speaking crowds in Tahiti, French Polynesia, which really helped hone what was to become my chatty, inter-song banter and performance craft and just felt really ready to put something down 'on tape' and share that with the world. Especially, while these songs were still alive in me.
That being the case, and my songwriting being as personal and revealing as it tends to be (because I write as an emotional and maybe even psychological compulsion; with a desire to understand and explore the landscape of something - a question, an impulse - and it is often not until the song all unfolds from me that that understanding occurs), it is more of a musical record of those pivotal years of my life than any kind of 'concept' album. It so happens, however, that contemplation on things of the spirit, a passion for service and the teachings and Writings of the Baha'i Faith have consistently played a role in my life, so that is naturally reflected in the lyrical content of a lot of the songs. Sometimes, however, the lyrics also touch on the necessary primary (primal?) colours of the singer/songwriter: teenage/unrequited/blissful/friend-inspired - love. Of course. And the growth of a steelier kind of courage as youth's beautifully dazzling blind strength gradually shifts away; or was that just the melancholy of loneliness, living far from home on an isolated, if paradisiacal island? It all went into the music anyway. And the music became this album. Enjoy.

about

Delia Olam SA, Australia

This was my first album and it's damn good. Before recording it with a mighty fine jazz band there were years of solo gigging, collaborations with electronika, house and dub djs, writing children's music, singing lead in an all-girl grunge-punk band, taking the bass line in 4 part acapella harmonies, making medieval music at school and singing along to Kate Bush and David Bowie vinyls in the dark ... more
