about

"BoxOfLight" is an exploration on my faaavourite spiritual principle, and that's the Independent Investigation of Truth; for each person to genuinely look into something which is offered as True, and discern for themselves whether or not it is so. This resonated so strongly with me as a youth, and was so important to me as I went through some (some called them 'wayward') questioning, investigative years myself. The lyrics tell that story really. It's a favourite to play, especially when it leads to post-gig discussions and meaningful conversations. mmm tasty.

lyrics

I've got a box that is full of light, of light
No words I have found can describe the delight of this light...

And this box this box this box of light
I will share it wih you (if you want me to)
But if I do can you promise me you will
Look inside for yourself
Please please

Don't take my word
Not over your own
Don't take my word over yours
Look for yourself!

There has come a man with words of light, of light
No words I could find would describe the delight of their light

And these words these words these words of light
I will share them with you (if you want me to)
But if I do can you promise me you will
Look inside for yourself
Please please

Don't take my word
Not over your own
Don't take my word over yours
Look for yourself!

What good are your eyes if you do not
Look?
What good are those ears if you do not
Listen?
What good is that mind if you do not
Reason?
What good are our lives if we do not
Question!

Don't take my word
Not over your own
Don't take my word over yours
Look for yourself!

about

Delia Olam SA, Australia

This was my first album and it's damn good. Before recording it with a mighty fine jazz band there were years of solo gigging, collaborations with electronika, house and dub djs, writing children's music, singing lead in an all-girl grunge-punk band, taking the bass line in 4 part acapella harmonies, making medieval music at school and singing along to Kate Bush and David Bowie vinyls in the dark ... more
