about

"ThisOne's(ForYou)" was written from the same era of bright-eyed melancholy that "NeverBeen(Limits)" was; borne of the distance felt, living on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, far from all those that have accompanied you before - calling out to them all, and recognizing what they all bring to and bring out of - me. The 'limitation' specifically realized here, though is that One is Not an Island.. I like to think there's a touch of the fragile Bowie vibe in the line, 'I must confess my weakness now: I need you all the same, I love you all the same.' I love breaking my heart on that one, singing it live.

lyrics

This one’s for you, all you friends back home
I wish you were here together we could roam

I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff
I thought I could get by on my own when time’s got rough
but I must confess my weakness now:

I need you all the same
I lov you all the same

And This one’s for you all friends in Europe found
I wish you were here so we could lark around

I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff
I thought I could get by on my own when time's got rough

There is a fire in my heart
And it is burning me up
If you’ve got the water for my heart
You’re welcome any time
you're welcome any time

This one’s for you Island friends who know
The spirit of my heart better than any else and so
though I must have thought I was made of rarer stuff
and I thought I could get by on my own when time's got rough

There is a fire in my heart
and it's burning me up
if you've got the water for my heart
you’re welcome anytime…

about

Delia Olam SA, Australia

This was my first album and it's damn good. Before recording it with a mighty fine jazz band there were years of solo gigging, collaborations with electronika, house and dub djs, writing children's music, singing lead in an all-girl grunge-punk band, taking the bass line in 4 part acapella harmonies, making medieval music at school and singing along to Kate Bush and David Bowie vinyls in the dark ... more
